News from 2024

01.09.24 Dreadful Weather. Today found the band having to take cover in the Emmanuel Church, Saltburn, to keep dry from the dreadful weather that seemed to have appeared over night. But even though the weather put a dampener on the location, it didn't put a dampener on the performance the band gave. The music was a variety, with a few sing songs, along with a few pieces that the band needed a few deep breaths to recover from, due to the speed. Its all fun though and the band love performing all pieces even if the band master takes them like a rocket getting launched to space, haha. Now we look forward to digging the library out and finding some new music ready for our concert season, next year. We have a few performances left for the year, so why not pop over to our concerts page to see where we have left to go. Thank you for the support though out this year, we really appreciate it.

22.08.24 New players, Website problems and concerts. Firstly we would like to apologise for the long delay in there being any news. We have had some slight problems with the website that have taken a while to get back up and running. It's hard work when you have to find out, how the technology works and the different ways of fixing things. Thankfully, we have now managed to rectify the issue and are back up and running. So lets head back to the first concert the band of the season. The first concert saw the band perform at Saltburn, it was a gorgeous day with lots of sun and a wonderful audience. We had a wide range of music to suit all ages and even had something in there for people to sing along to. The 2nd concert saw the band play in the historic town and museum, Beamish. It came with a bit of a problem, but even with a problem the band plodded along and gave a wonderful afternoon of music. Ropner Park, this year was a complete difference to last year. We actually had glorious sunshine, which in comparison to last year's torrential rain which called off a full performance.

In a mix of all the issues we have had with the website and concert season being busy. We have seen some more new faces come a long to rehearsals and leave with smiling faces, returning the next week. It is so nice to see people popping their head in the door to listen to us or to ask if we mind them popping a long one night to play and see what music we rehearse and to see if it is something for them. So if you play a musical instrument, no matter what grade. You will be welcomed with open arms, walk through our door and come and join in with the community spirit and the family fun atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you on a Tuesday night 7.30-9.30 at St Alphonsus Church Hall, North Ormesby.

23.02.24 Concert Season and New Faces. Our Calendars are fastly filling up and the concert season is getting very busy. We are working hard behind the scenes to get together a new selection of music for you all to enjoy throughout the year. We are also pleased to see new faces coming through the door and are pleased to hear that our name is been spread around and people are hearing about us up and down the country. If you play a musical instrument and wish to pop along then contact us over on our Facebook page or give us a call or text on 07757-442778, we would love for you to join in and become part of the family.

06.01.24 Summary and New Year. Well what can we say about 2023, it has had its ups and downs and been a difficult year for the band but by the end of it we finished on a high. 2023 saw the band have the biggest struggle it has had for a while. The band found themselves on the brink of calling it a day and hanging up the baton. However despite the struggle, we managed to pull through and we owe a MASSIVE Thank you to Ben. He came in and helped the band when needed and then agreed to take the band on and work a long side our Deputy to help the band stay at their best. We have had some amazing feedback from our concerts throughout the year as well and we are very grateful to everyone to gives us their views, because without them we wouldn't know what we needed to improve and what we did so well. We ended the year with a final concert at St Columba's Church Hall in Darlington and what a lovely way to end. The audience were singing and dancing and clapping a long to variety of music we played, from Christmas carols to pop songs. To end our busy year of concerts and hard work the band had a social night out, it was nice to relax and enjoy the company of the band without having instruments in the way and music all over the fall. We had a lovely meal and even took part in a Christmas quiz, made by our drummer Sam. It was a fabulous way to end 2023, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year and we are looking forward to seeing you all again in the coming months for another busy year of concerts.
