When I was 9 years old, a musician visited my school to teach my class how to play brass instruments. This musician assigned me to the trumpet based on how I buzzed my lips, but I struggled to play the trumpet so he switched me to baritone which was easier for beginners. I then signed up to the music school that the musician worked for and he continued to teach me to play baritone.
Every Saturday I attended this music school called the NMPAT where I played the baritone in a group of people around my age and a bigger group with adults also. This music school had offered more classes as I had learnt to play the violin and ukulele at beginner level and had lessons on music theory which is where I had learnt to read music.
When I was 11 years old, I switched from the baritone to trumpet. When I moved from the east midlands to Middlesbrough, I joined Cleveland Concert Band and picked my trumpet up after 7 years of not playing.
I can now enjoy my hobby a long side continuing to study BSc Accounting and Finance at Teesside University.
